I bought the iPad Pro 13 from Costco. Added AppleCare on a monthly basis after I unboxed and activated it.

A week later, I bought the Magic Keybroad and Apple Pencil from Costco's website.

If something goes wrong with the Keyboard or the Pencil, apparently it's covered under the iPad Pro's AppleCare plan. However... how does Apple know which Keyboard goes with which iPad Pro? Or do I have to register the Keyboard and Pencil on the iPad Pro's AppleCare plan?

I had to call Apple support and have them link the Magic Keyboard to my AppleCare+ coverage. I bought them on the same day, although I got the iPad Pro from Best Buy and the Magic Keyboard from Apple. I was also told they can't link the Pencil and Magic Keyboard to the same plan, but if, say, you had the Magic Keyboard already linked to your plan and had an issue with the Pencil, they would take the Magic Keyboard off the plan and add the Pencil so you could file the claim on it.

I didn't have to do any linking when I had to replace my iPP (from Apple) and MKB (from BestBuy, 3 months after the iPP purchase). I simply told them both were bent like a banana because the tablet was in the keyboard when it happened. They asked for photos of both, I obliged, confirmed the credit hold on my card and a few days later I got my express replacement iPP and MKB. Sent back the damaged goods in the provided boxes and done.

They didn't ask about coverage linking, receipts, anything of the sort. They just took care of the customer. Presumably, they can see what devices an owner has, since those accessories report their serial to the device when connected.

Overall, 10/10 experience, now recommend AC+ to everyone.

Apparently there's a technical issue within Apple such that you can list one accessory with the iPad (either the keyboard or the pencil) as "Covered," but there's just one field for it so they can't actually list both items. But both are covered.

If you end up needing service on the item that isn't listed, just call AppleCare and they can set up the repair for you. The details of HOW this is done don't really matter... they're great about it.

From the iPad AppleCare+ webpage…

“Service coverage is available only for iPad, its original included accessories, one compatible Apple Pencil, and one compatible Apple-branded iPad keyboard used with your iPad”….”The service fee for Apple Pencil or Apple-branded iPad keyboard is $29.”

That's precisely why I signed up for AppleCare. :)

can you share the photo of the iPad and MKB bent like a banana? :) How did it happen?

Thanks! :)
