I made a quicktime movie of my full screen in El Capitan. I want to crop this movie (NOT Trim) at a different aspect than the original 27" aspect recorded.

Is it possible to crop to any aspect, or am I stuck cropping to proportional aspect as in iMovie App? I'd like to crop it like I would any picture. I want to crop the movie to be tall and narrow.

Dunno about iMovie, but in FCPX you can crop as you want then zoom if you want, and change formats and transform to the proportion you want.

You can use iMovie to crop: Adjust button, then Cropping
iMovie will ONLY proportionally crop to the original aspect. Which is stupid cropping to me. Maybe I don't understand why it is proportional, but I want to crop NON-proportionally.

iMovie 10.1.2, which I believe is the latest, can crop to any size by selecting the movie in the Media library, not on the timeline. Click crop icon, then the crop button. Select any of the 8 drag points (corners and midpoints) and drag to the desired crop. Then click the blue checkmark to the right of the reset button. Drag the media to the timeline for further edits.
