I have Photostream turned on. My understanding is that whenever I take a picture and I have access to WiFi, it will be saved in Photostream and uploaded to the cloud.

But let's say I take a picture without WiFi access, and it ends up in Camera Roll. How do I transfer it from there to Photostream?

Just connect back to wifi on your device that you took the picture with and it will do it automatic.

It normally adds it when you get on your home Wifi, it will take a few, but they will show up.

It's odd. I have 7 pics in camera roll and none in photostream on my iPhone. Been on my wifi for hours... Cloud is set to on.

-Make sure you enable Photostream in iPhoto.

-it also helps to check if iCloud is on in your Mac by going to Preferences.

-Photostream only downloads the photos you took right after enabling Photostream in iPhoto.

-Once your photos are in iCloud, you will have a visual representation in your Mac under 'Photostream' album in iPhoto. They will also be in a 'new event' album where you can delete any photo you wish. You cannot delete any of them from your 'Photostream' album however (have been trying to delete mine to no avail.). I believe they will be removed from iCloud after 30 days to make room for more (correct me if I'm wrong on this, anyone.)

I hope this helps.

Transferring Photos from Camera Roll to Photo Stream

Is there any way that we can transfer photos on the camera roll on the iPhone (i.e. those taken on older phones/before PhotoStream was enabled) into the PhotoStream from the iPhone?

I suppose you can upload them to your computer then put them in the PhotoStream file, but is there a way to do it from the phone?

Another question

Would anyone mind letting me know how (or if) we need to do anything to save the images in photo stream?

Is photo stream a 'preview' or your latest pics for convenience, or is it a temporary folder where the pics sit waiting to be organised, saved to specific folders or events.?

i.e. in 30 days, if i do nothing will these pictures be automatically deleted and lost forever? I tried to drag n drop them to the main pictures folder in iPhoto, but it said this was a duplicate as the Photo Stream pics are already in a 'Photo Stream' events folder...

the default option in iPhoto is for photostream photos to be automatically imported to your iPhoto. this means you'll see the same photos in two places, one in your photostream events folder and once in the photostream folder. The photos in the photostream events folder are actually on your computer and will never be deleted unless you delete them. The photos in the photostream folder will be gone after 30 days or after you reach 1000 photos, whichever comes first.
