how does re-installed app recognize my device on iOS 11

I want to uninstall and reinstall an application on my iPad and iPhone, and restart the trial period. Somehow the app recognizes the device and it won't allow me to do that. What's the app recognizing, and how can I get around it? My guess is that the app is somehow registering my device on their servers, but I'm a tech newbie. Is there a way to get around that? possibly spoofing my device so that it registers as a different one? I have no idea how to do that, or even if it's possible, but just thought I'd ask the group. I have an iPad Air, and iPhone 8, both on iOS 11.

i don't believe it's recognizing the device, only your apple id
