"No escape from Reality...”
How does SG-1 and Atlantis look on an :apple:TV? I understand BG doesn't look so hot.

Was just wondering now that the second half of the seasons are becoming availalable, and it's the last 10 episodes of SG-1

I watched the new episodes on my iPod, S-Video, on my projector. Looks okay...
Thanks!

I can't attest to the ones you buy from iTunes, but if you get ggod quality xvids that are encoded from HDTV (SkyOne-UK) and recode them to AppleTV, they look pretty good to me. Just watched the SG-1 finale the other night, so sad...

I'm in the US and they just started airing. Was wondering about the quality...

I was just wondering if component via :apple:TV is really the way to go, or just stick to S-Video on iPod and patiently wait for the DVDs...

The DVDs on my home theater look really good...

I'm in the US too. As far as component vs s-video, you are DEFINATELY going to tell a difference between the two (especially on a projector). I've got my Apple TV hooked up to my 720p projector, and regular DVDs (not to mention HD-DVDs) do still look much better than Apple TV on a screen that big, but s-video would be abismal comparitively. I've got a smaller 42" LCD HDTV Flatscreen in the bedroom and the Apple TV looks really good on that. Hope this helps...

Sorry if this is a little OT, but how do you get content recorded off Sky HD onto your Mac/PC?

I've been considering switching to Sky HD for a while but thought you couldn't get the content off the Sky box, and that's (obviously) limited in capacity.

Well, I think i might be walking a fine line here as far as forum rules go, but when i talk about getting them as xvids from SkyOne, i mean downloaded via bittorrent. Where SkyOne comes in is the source that the encoder used was SkyOne (you can see the bug in the top left hand corner) which is a much higher resolution signal than what's aired here in the states on the SciFi Channel. As far as how to offload the shows directly from the SkyOne box, I'm afraid I'm not much help...

Well, they're anamorpic for the full widescreen, but the educated eye can see its low-def - a bit fuzzy. But watchable.

Back on topic? (avoiding other one, need to talk about iTunes store bought shows).

iTunes bought Stargate series? Bit fuzzy, watchable, but maybe just wait for the DVD's and watch them on my iPod via S-video for now?

Well, I do the season pass for both Stargates during the season, but delete them when I get my grubby hands on the season box set.

Sounds like you have a similar idea.

Thanks anyway! Apparently the Sky box storage is limited to about 25 hours of HD, so I'd need a way of getting the content off it to make room for more. Obviously someone is able to do so, I just have to find out how.

Ok, sorry if this is off topic, but my guess is they are using some sort of htpc (home theatre personal computer) to capture the show and then reencode to divx/xvid. A really good resource is the AVS Forum...http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/
