How does that WiFi work now?

Just a quick question (im in the UK so I cant test tis out for myself sorry!). Will the iPhone continually scan for WiFi networks and connect to whatever it can find that it has access to (like a WiFi hotspot or a random unsecured network), or does it ask the user what to connect to, or do you have to scan manually?

continually scans as long as wifi is on, but if it's not a preferred network you've already connected to before (in which case it will connect you to that network automatically), it'll prompt you to choose among the networks, unsecured or not.

It scans all the time BUT that can drain the battery so turn it off if you aren't looking to connect to one.

That doesn't seem to be true. It only searches for wifi if you make a data request. So when the iPhone is in sleep mode the only requests are email checks which aren't a big deal.

Incorrect. Well, at least for me. I work in a big-sized office and will have my Wifi ask to join/leave a certain Wifi section for another even though I am connected to one already.

I can see why it drains it...I get asked a good bit.
