I’ve started to realize I’m not too happy with my M1 12.9” iPP for various reasons, one being that I can’t do my graphic design the way I want to on the iPP and I thought maybe a M1 MBA might be a wise choice instead of it. Can someone tell me how the M1 MBA compares to the M1 12.9” iPP?

My wife has one (and I had one for a few weeks), it is a completely different unit. It runs Mac OS and has a worse screen that not as bright and only 60 Hz, but it has a lot longer battery life.

If you cannot do all you want to do on iPad OS the decision might already be made for you but otherwise the question you have to ask yourself is which OS do you prefer, iPad OS or Mac OS? I prefer iPad OS for what I do with my device and my wife runs both and use them for different things.

Maybe you could buy both and just use the iPad with sidecar?

The differences really boil down to the software. One is an iPad and one is a Mac. It sounds as though you want to do graphic design the Mac way, so get a Mac.

Yeah, since @iPad Bro haven't provided details on what they are trying to accomplish... what is the Mac way?

I have both the M1 iPad Pro and M1 MacBook Air. I‘m not a graphic designer but I’m a photographer. I think the devices compliment each other well, but I prefer my MBA for Photo management and editing, and use the IPP for research, web surfing, email, streaming, etc. I probably use my IPP more than my MBA, but I think it comes down to personal preference.

Triaging and culling through photos in LR Classic is much more preferable over LR CC on the iPad Pro.

Also being able to import from the SD card straight to an external SSD in Lightroom is the biggest reason so far.

You‘ve seriously have never used a Mac? macOS is pretty much the same amongst all the new macs. If you’ve used a Mac than you know the differences between the Mac and an iPad Pro.

If you’re talking hardware differences. A MacBook Air has an inferior screen, inferior front camera, no back camera, and inferior speakers. Also, it’s missing Touch support, pencil support, LIDAR, and portrait mode.

From a hardware perspective it’s like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a 7 Series BMW.

(I don’t know why that first sentence is bold and can’t figure out how to make it normal).
