How does the TDP on the new Minis compare?

How does the TDP (Thermal Design Power) on the new Minis compare with the 2011 versions?
I have the 2011 i7 quad, but find it very noisy when the cpu is working. If the new models have a lower TDP I might consider replacing it.

I was asking myself the exact same question. since the old and new quad-core CPU have both a TDP of 45 Watts I wouldn't expect a big improvement with the noise. here are the links to both intel CPU's used in the 2011 and 2012 Mac mini Server ->

also I was hoping for a fan with asymmetrical blades like in the 13" Air and the 15" MBPr but the pictures on Apple's website show the same symmetrical fan that's built into the 2011 mini.

but I wanted USB 3.0 and ordered a 2012 mini Server anyway...

If I remember correctly the next generation CPU's (Haswell) will have adjustable TDP. I went back from the mid 2011 model (i5 2.5 Ghz) to the 2010 server and could not have been happier - no noise - but can do with slightly more grunt. However I am not prepared to give up my silence so will be eagerly watching what the temperatures and fan noise will be under load. However it is likely that I will wait until the Haswell model comes along. I might be interested in the Ivy base model if it comes with a second drive but I doubt Apple is ever going to supply that.

I hope it's not too loud at normal tasks like iTunes and Safari. If the fan tunes up in heavy tasks, it's not the biggest problem for me. Shouldn't be louder than my 15" MBP anyways.
