I have decided that it's not worth it to have a laptop, having a more powerful desktop is more important to me. I would be doing some video editing and the usual, so how does this look?

Looks fine, but I personally wouldn't buy any Mac (with the exception of a Quad G5) before Jan 10.

Ah, yes, I was thinking about this. But:

Haven't the Rev A's been notorious for problems? (although I believe this iMac is a Rev A, but with Apple Care I'm not too worried)

Most software won't be supported right off the bat, correct? (although Rosetta(?) will run them, but it won't be as fast as usual. For video editing I'm not sure this would be very good.)

I haven't heard anything about iMacs being updated, seeing as they were updated pretty recently. I thought the portables were first, because they were going to use a different chip in the iMacs and PowerMacs.

For home stuff (home videos etc.) this is OK. But you will probably need a bigger HD, a SuperDrive, faster GPU (if u use Motion or play games) and more RAM for bigger projects.

For a little more you could get rev. B iMac with SuperDrive, 160 gig HD, Radeon 9600 and a 2 GHz G5.

I think rev. B is better fro the money than this rev. A

I guess I'll just save some more, I have about $1050 right now.

Yea revB is a beast (I'm using one, as you can see in my sig).

Although you have the storage place, you would appreciate extra 400 MHz of G5 crunching power rev. B offers!

I would never touch a rev A iMac G5, for the sole reason that I owned one and returned one after only owning it for a few days and all the problems crept up.

In the process it taken my external HDD that was my backup drive.

I am still bitter about it till this day. Thanks a lot Apple.

The rev B iMac G5 on the other hand, if perfect thus far. :knock on wood:

You guys have made my decision easier, I'm going to let this one pass.

I did a little more research and I read about loads of problems with the Rev A, I'm glad I didn't buy this one!

But I need to get a job, it's going to be hard to save up for this and then FCE.

(anybody want to hire a 13 year old? I don't bite.)

I would just spend a little more an get the new Rev C iMac (iSight).
Without upgrading it at all, it has that system beat. (by a lot)

I wouldn't buy it.
