I am curious to try the airpod pro 2 once it is widely available, but I have had really terrible luck with in-ear ear buds in the past. They either don't stay in or are uncomfortable. I saw in the forums here that you can apparently try them at the Apple Store first. How does that work? How well do they clean them between people?

I know I could buy and return if they didn't work, but if there is a process for trying and cleaning without a new set having to go through refurb if they don't work, that seems a less wasteful approach.

Also, anyone have success with the airpods or airpod pros when other earbuds never worked for them?

I think Apple are pretty good at cleaning between uses when I observed somebody else trying them on a few weeks ago. Wait for other confirmations as I didn't get a close look but I believe Apple actually use new tips with every try on and send the used ones away for thorough cleaning at a separate facility or at end of day.

Another idea worth considering is getting third party foam tips for AirPods Pro. I had the same problem as you, they would fall out and cause pressure build up in my ear. Switching to foams resolves not only the pressure issue but also provides a very secure, comfortable fit that absolutely will not come out of your ear unless you manually take them out.

I'm probaly switching back to the silicone tips when my AirPods 2 get here because I find myself having a slight allergic reaction to the foam after an hour+ of use. Your mileage may vary. Also foam tips require replacing every few months so they aren't as cost effective.

Which tips do you use? I saw in another thread someone mention they used Comply tips for better fit.
