(How Done It?) "Frozen" from shooting to editing...

Hey guys, now that things are gathering pace with contributors to the "How Done It?" thread I figured I'd post my video walkthrough thing. I'd sounded you all out a while back to see what sort of interest there was in seeing an image being created and then edited. Hopefully my video does not disappoint.

I'd rather this didn't create a competition as such, but would prefer it to become a resource to some. There isn't anything majorly ground breaking or clever in it - I'm neither a photography expert nor a Photoshop wizard - it's just a video of how I do things.

Please let me know what you think, as I'd possibly do more in the future if the interest is there. I hope you understand my accent enough as well as I tried to consciously speak properly in order to be understood well! haha!

I cant hear either accents. TH lives up the road from where I grew up and Mark0 lives in Scotland where I live now neither accents register with me. Weird.

I like this video a lot. Loved watching it. Question now of course is how do we apply both videos?

Take a Long focal length and use it for a quiet landscape...

I'm the only one without an accent! Because Essex is the way English is meant to sound!

Hope this proves to be worthwhile for everyone, despite the editing being simple and not very groundbreaking. I’d welcome any feedback, particularly on the structure and delivery of the video. Bad feedback is most welcome!
I appreciate the video is probably a bit long and I could probably speed up next time. 20 mins would be a better target.

I'll get a chance to watch it later this afternoon as I import the images from a special school holiday outing for my Mindful Photography groups, looking at some modern architecture today.

Ok game on. I have a couple of spots in mind to try out some of the techniques in the two submissions we now have.

I have to say though, such fantastic work from @anotherscotsman and @Mark0.


Maybe we need to keep these as a sticky thread for technical reference... I will sort that out.

Love this. Yes it was a bit long, but I found it very interesting. Curious as to why you use PS to clone out elements rather than LR. I'm assuming it's because you get more control with the healing brush in PS (and I think I just answered my own question). Not something I routinely do (though now I just might). I also wasn't aware you could use the brush tool to change the coverage of gradient masks in LR--very useful information.

Thanks so much for doing this. It was interesting seeing the choices you made both at capture and in post. I know you spent quite a bit of time creating this. It was helpful and is very much appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Thank you, glad you found it useful. You are right about the cloning in PS. I feel the video could’ve been a bit shorter if I’d cut out some of the waffle! I’ll know better next time!
