As a MBP owner, I like the idea of having a layer of glass between dust and fingers and the panel.

So I'm worried. The screen on MBA is glossy. Is it really cleanable? Or not?

Ok. So the glossy MBA screen can safely be cleaned?

The MBP and MBA share glossy screens.. it'll be pretty much the same.

MBP has a layer of glass on top of the panel, MBA does not (the panel is just glossy).

I have had no problem cleaning my MBA's screen. I just use a microfiber cloth to wipe the dust away, very easy.

20 years of laptops without an extra $#%$# piece of reflective glass, suggests that it's quite possible to clean LCD panels. (yes I hate the ultra-glossy, reflective MBP panels).

FWIW I use a MBP matte and occassionaly clean it with a TFT screen cleaner. Works well.

It's easy to clean, just the usual screen cleaner and fine micro fibre cloth.

You don't get the marks form the keyboard on the screen of the MBA, reasoon being is 2-fold

1) there is no extra layer of glass covering the screen moving it closer to the keyboard when the lid is closed.

2) the lack of backlit keyboard allowed Apple to use a slightly shallower keyboard design compared with that on the MBP.

It's impossible. The keyboard alone will leave permanent marks on your screen. Ahhh the price for being that slim.

The same happens on my MBP, though they aren't very noticeable lol

2010 MBA doesnt have this problem. I have never noticed anything transferred from the keyboard to the screen on my 11" mba.
Microfiber and windex do the trick just fine for me. I usually wipe it down 2-3 times a day, once with windex twice for any dust particles.

I would caution against using Windex due to its ammonia content. Ammonia and other strong solvents can eat the plastic slowly and also remove anti-glare/relfective and anti-dust coatings. These solvent cleaners can remove these same coatings from glass covered screens too. Although it can take very many applications to begin seeing the negative effects, a quick Google search will turn up numerous sites cautioning against using ammonia based cleaners: http://www.google.com/search?q=ammonia+lcd+screens

I use a microfiber cloth slightly moistened with water to clean dusty LCD screens be they laptops, desktop or TVs. To clean screens filthy with fingerprints, I use a microfiber cloth with either purchased "LCD cleaner" or eyeglass cleaning solution.

zero problems. I place a micro fiber cloth between the mba and the keyboard when closed. very impressed on how clean its held up to be.
