This is the system I ordered on Saturday 12, 2007. I expected it to take at least 2 weeks before I would see it. FedEx says it will be here today. The tracking shows it landed in Dallas, Tx at 3:30am CST.

Product / Part No. Unit Price Qty Ext. Price
MAC PRO,CTO
Z0D8 $5,781.00 1 $5,781.00
Custom configuration| Show Hide
3.00 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
4GB 667 DDR2 FB DMM ECC-4x1GB
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB
500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive
500GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive
16x SuperDrive DL
Airprt Extrm & BT 2.0+EDR
Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mse
Aperture 1.5.1
Mac OS X
Country Kit

As you can see I upgraded amost everything I could and added a bit more on top.
Maybe this will make others feel better about ordering. The only thing I really want for this system is one of the those video cards just released. Having an HDMI out would be very nice.

You could have saved a lot of money ($400-500) if you didn't order the 500 gb hardrives and the ram through apple (maybe you did?)

As for HDMI output, I've been looking into capture cards and ran across this. It may accomplish what you're trying to do.

I take it you are located in Texas?

I'm sort of bent because I ordered my mac pro (exact same configuration, minus the RAM and HDs) on May 2nd, I got an email saying it would be here May 18th, and then shipment was delayed till May 21st - so nearly 3 weeks from order date. :(

If yours beats mine despite my ordering nearly 2 weeks in advance I'm going to be upset!

HDMI is basically DVI with a different pinout and audio!

I have my HDTV connected via HDMI to the DVI output on my video card, using one of these cables:

http://www.mycablemart.com/store/cart.php?m=product_list&c=61&gclid=CITS0tvAlYwCFSZghgod1Gnicg

$10 for a 10 foot cable and HDMI -> DVI. Can't beat that.

It works amazingly, by the way. No need for $100 monster cables, those are just a scam. These cheap cables work equally well (it's called 'digital' for a reason).

I may have jumped the gun. I just checked my fedex tracking. It shows a package being delivered but now it shows another package moving through Canada.
I bought an HP printer from Apple at the same time. I am getting the feeling that it may be the printer arriving.
I will keep you updated.
As for saving money on the HD and Ram. Well this is my first MAC ever. I did not want to take any risks of voiding my warranty if I used non apple certified parts.
I am sure I will upgrade my video card in the future, but at least for now I want to experience what a true MAC is from the beginning.

DVI has audio? I thought it was just video. If it has audio then I have no worries. I can just get a connector to my HDTV.

THanks all

(Yes I am in Dallas Texas)

Update on the order.
Printer arrived today.
FedEx has my computer arriving Tuesday the 22nd.
They show it arriving in the USA from China on Friday.
I still think this is really fast.
I have 3 close friends planning on coming Tuesday to see the thing.
By the end of the week I have another 4 wanting to see it.
Most of them think Apple has the best product. But they do not have the balls to buy one.
Almost all of them are programmers which I guess is the reason they stay with a Windows based machine.
I hope to convert a few. Its time to change the tide.

On a side note. I was in a place called MicroCenter here in Dallas, Tx. Some of you might have one where you live. They are like a CompUSA but better.
I was in the Apple section listening to one of their reps give a sit down presentation of a MACPRO to a middle aged couple.
After 15 minutes I finally had to step in and speak my mind. The couple were worried that the MAC would not meet all their needs. The rep never once explained about bootcamp and how it could help with programs that would not run on a MAC.
I happen to have software for my business that will never run on a MAC. Its to specialized does not have a MAC version.
After I told them about bootcamp they were stunned. In fact the husband clapped his hands and said thats all he needed to hear.
Why do sales reps not talk about this feature?
Heck I sure hope when the next OS comes out they will talk about this feature on Apples commercials.

Yeah its "beta" right now they only released it as soon as they did because someone else cracked it. So if they waited people might think they didn't come up with the idea. So they released it ahead of schedule. They will advertise it and talk about it once 10.5 comes out because thats when it was supposed to come out.

I wouldn't plan too much for the Tuesday out of caution (still bent yours is coming so much faster than mine!) as I had lots planned and then they didn't 'release' the computer until the next business day AFTER it arrived. So I would add another two days to your estimate, ie it should show up Thursday.

4GB 667 DDR2 FB DIMM ECC-4x1GB
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB
750GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive
750GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive

As of this morning, Apple.com is saying:

I was trying to cut and paste my tracking with FEDEX but Apple site is down. Need that tracking number.
But I looked at it this morning and it has arrived at the sorting center in Dallas, Tx Monday 21, 2007.
Still on schedule for delivery Tuesday at 10:30am. Gee I wish I could stay home. But that is not an option.
Printing my paperwork to have them leave it at the apartments mail center. I do not want to chase down a FEDEX truck all tuesday afternoon.

Computer came one day early. Was lucky enough to meet the FEDEX man at the door. I pulled up and he was getting out of his truck. I jokingly asked him if he had a MACPRO on his truck. He looked at me and said yes.
Turns out he was looking for me. What luck!
I am getting ready to plug it in.

Hope you all get yours soon!

Have a great day.
