How good is the 27" iMac playing FullHD? (1080p)

I know you gonna tell me: "Is very good, the best, etc...", but the 27" iMac is 2560 by 1440 pixels, a lot more than fullHD resolution.
So, when you play it you can see the pixels or is just perfect?

it depends on te=he quality of the dvd.. sometimes you can have 1080 P CAPABLE! like the 20 inch imac (T_T 9400m) i put my dvd its not thaat clear in fact its blurry. i havnt tried the new imacs display but i can say it is stunning. i think if you have to great quality videos, it definetely is more than sufficient.

I don't just care Steve Jobs's opinion about Blu-Ray on Macintosh, I can buy a external player. In the iMac promotional videos they say that you can buy HD movies from iTunes, and considering iTunes HD movies are 720p...

HD is 720p and 1080i/p and FullHD can be 720p or 1080i/p as it is only a marketing term.

But to answer your question, 1080i/p and 720p content will look more than okay on your screen, you will not see single pixels, unless the encoding used for the video is abysmal.

Source quality can effect this but really good quality (BD) is breathtaking on that big screen.

Granted 1080p content would be upscaled to fit the screen, thus won't be native resolution, it's going to be lesser quality than when viewed on say, a 1080p hdtv. But, if you're watching from 5feet back or more, chances are you won't be able to tell the difference.

i dont really like where apple is going. remember get a mac? they said you have EVERYTHING out of the box and other than a external hdd and a thumbdrive/ ports/cables... you shouldnt have to buy a new drive.. it defeats the purpose of the mac. get a mac said when you have a pc you have to buy EVERYTHING AIN ORDER TO match the capabilities of a mac. this is really sad. apple is shifting to the bUY strategy

I've had my 27" i7 iMac now for about 3 weeks and have managed to test out a few BD Rips and they look amazing, even when viewed up close.

The iMac also seems to have been able to handle everything I've thrown at it so far as well - I've had 3 1080p films and 6 standard def films playing, some of which were playing on an external 23" 1080p HD Monitor via the DisplayPort, iTunes with visualizer on and Ableton Live 8 playing a project in the background, all without any glitches. The only thing that happened was the fans came on

So far I've been impressed since I only picked up the iMac because I couldn't wait any longer for the new Mac Pro
