I strictly own Dell due to a significant discount.

I think Apples new line up will receive a better rating as the industry focuses on the environmental issues.

Some platforms are around for years while others seem to fall off the shelves overnight. Revamping a line takes time, retooling factories is expensive and timely. Pure speculation on my behalf but perhaps Apple was willing to take one on their green chin to allow for a maximum run of their last line thereby maximizing profits and inventory control while all the while staying within acceptable EPA limits set forth.

Dell, Asus, and HP have far more flexibility in introducing products as they can shift certain platforms to various prodct lines while in the back ground slowly revamping and updating other lines they sell; business, consumer, education and so on.

When there's an actual conclusion to be made out of all that, I'll take notice. The most cursory look at the results shows no uniform basis for comparison whatsoever. Utter garbage, and I'm appalled that the WSJ actually found space for that (probably online edition only).

As usual, both the "environmental" orgs and the competition cherry-pick stats knowing that the public are idiots, as usual.

Old joke: Two cars are entered in an international competition, an American car and a Soviet car. The American car soundly beats its Soviet counterpart in every measure.

The following morning, Pravda reports as follows on the front page: "Soviet car is second-best in world; American car next to last."

Dell and HP are the worst. Who gave these fake ratings? Probably a guy using a polycarbonate MacBook from 2006 and comparing it to an experimental prototype from Dell and HP. This is BS as well as the author. Dell and HP uses plastic and all sorts of toxins in their LCD assemblies. This disgusts me that some dumb guy wrote this article and indirectly said Macs are the worst in being green and PCs are better. Cheapo plastic POS.
