I am thinking about getting an InvisibleShield, but some people complain about how hard they are to put on. Are they ACTUALLY hard, or are people just being whiny?

Also, if I got an invisibleShield would it prevent me from putting it in a case (maybe the shield increases the thickness too much). I need an armband holder for when I work out so this is what I'm worried about.

Thanks!

They are hard if you try to put it on incorrectly which i did at first...

If you put it on and try to get the corners it will slip.

What you have to do is align it first.... squeege the flat areas first, this helps it stick and stay secured for easier application. carefully get the sides and corners. If the corners dont stick wait a while for the water to dry then redo it since the invisible shield uses a non soluble adhesive.

I see. So if I don't get it on correctly the first time, I can just take it off and try again, no harm no foul? I was mostly worried about the scenario "damn, gotta order a new one".

as long it is somewhat wet... its almost impossible to mess it up, just dont let it stick to things when you first peel it since the dry adhesive is super strong

If you're thinking about getting one for a 4th Gen. iPod touch then I would highly recommend getting one! I've had quite a bit of experience installing them on various devices and I found the installation of the max coverage iPod 4 to be much easiest one yet. Have one on right now and am really liking it!

They're not hard to put on, (and even easier to take off, once you realize they suck compared to PowerSupport! ;))

I've used 4 of them and the first 3 went on pretty easy and quick...my 4G, I just had issues where I got a couple pieces of dust underneath so had to peel and re-start, but somehow I still got one gigantic piece I missed (don't do this when sleepy). When I feel up to it again, I have to take them up on their warranty at some point and send it back for a new one to try again.

I bought an InvisibleSHIELD for my new iPod. It has a manufacturing defect, there is a great big rainbow colour scratch running vertically down it, but that's another story.

I found it quite easy, though time consuming, to apply. Make sure your hands are CLEAN, and there is *no* dust on your device. Use that micro fibre cloth!! I recommend doing the back first. You should also watch an install video, the 1st gen iPod one is pretty similar to the 4th gen.

Spray the adhesive side liberally, place it down on the back, slide it around and LINE IT UP perfectly with your fingers, spray the non-adhesive side, and use the squeegee liberally to push out all the bubbles. I found the side with the bit that sticks out works best.
You *will* have to push hard to it to get the micro bubbles out, however, what they say is true - they do work themselves out after 2-3 days. Mine started with many left on it, now there are just 3!

Make sure you "palm" the edges, and hold it for a good 15-20 sec. Sticks fine once you do that. Squeegee to bubbles out once again.

As for the front, don't make the mistake I did. Peel off the main screen (front camera part with it), spray, lay it down, and line it up (this is really easy on the screen, and you'll need it to be dead perfect.
Now, take the OUTER RING of the Home Button and stick it down, THEN the main Home Button. The outer ring will probably come with the Home Button, but you need to separate it! Otherwise, you will end up with a squishy, non-clicky, unresponsive Home Button.

Hope all that helps you out!!

As for cases,I've found it fine with the cheap case I have. It's adds all of 0.2mm to the device, so it shouldn't be a problem with silicon or TPU/soft plastic cases. However, hard plastic or metallic shells, you may have problems with, as they need to be tight to remain secure - 0.2mm added thickness may make or break the case fitting.

Good luck!

EDIT: Also, make sure you line up the microphone hole & camera on the back - preferably even start there. You don't want no sound on your videos!! Make sure you're careful around openings to not get them wet, but if you do don't worry - a paper towel quickly fixes that. Make sure you dry it quickly though.
Oh, and finally, make sure you've got at least half an hour spare time, work in a clean, dust-free area, and LET IT CURE OVERNIGHT! Don't touch it until the next morning!!

This is what I worry will happen when (few weeks/month) I put mine on. Is there any recommendations on preventing this from happening?

I just had a dry microfiber cloth handy. As I layed down the wet invisible shield, I put the cloth over the microphone hole to absorb any extra water before it went into the hole. Also, I shook the shield a few times to get a lot of the water off before I put it on the ipod. Normally i apply it soaking wet, but this time i went with slightly wet. I got a few more air bubbles than normal but they should eventually go away.

Another small tip, if you use a squegee to apply the shield, wrap the squeegee in another damp microfiber cloth, it will help prevent scratching the shield. I use the microfiber cloths that typically come with glasses, not the soft fuzzy kind bec. those shed lint.
