Hi everyone!
After trolling around a bit, I'm finally posting for the first time after registering a week or so ago. I wanted to chime in on the whole "heat issue" I've been reading about in the various posts on these boards alone for about the past week.
I'm a relatively new switcher to Mac OS (Spring '05) and I have to say I can't believe I waited so long! My intro was the Mac mini G4. Still have it to this day and love the little thing. About a month after that I splurged and bought an iBook G4 1.33 14" laptop. That thing was great! It met my needs perfectly. However, with the switch to Intel, I've had the itch to "re-splurge", as it were, and move up the ladder to one of the Pro line 'books. I've decided on the 2.16GHz 15".
So, I recently sold my iBook to a good home in the hopes of getting whatever money I could towards the purchase of my new Macbook Pro.
I have to say that at first I was skeptical on making the jump, as I've seen more than a few posts on these boards about this heating issue all the 'books seem to have. But then I realized that my iBook was "hot" too. It wouldn't burn me or anything, but there were times I definitely noticed the higher temp difference. Despite this, my 'book seemed to faithfully chug along as it always had without so much as a hiccup.
Given my previous experiences (all good) with the Apple products, I've decided to go ahead and get the 15" 'book Pro. I look forward to more Mac Goodness and expect that something as powerful as these 'books are, you're bound to experience higher temps. Yes, if it goes beyond what is "normal" for a device like this, then something must be done. But I plan on purchasing a heat dissipating pad/stand of some kind to help give it that cooling edge!
Just felt like sharing my thoughts/expriences. And thanks for sitting through my ramblings.
