Apple's way or the highway. They gave you a choice with large mode. You don't like it. It wasn't there before. You lose nothing by staying in small mode. It's not incompetence. It's a design choice. If you don't like it, submit feedback and you may see some tweaks in iOS 19. I have been submitting feedback annually about how bad App Library is since iOS 14 beta.

But some phones don’t have this issue. It’s not design. Good try though.

I think your SE is the exception, not the rule. Much different screen size/resolution. This is the way it looks in large mode on every 14/15/16 size (reg, Plus, Max) I have tested it on.

So you are saying Apple has different icon positioning design for different phones or they are incompetent to adjust this design according to the resolution?

"Yes" 🤣

More seriously ... their software QA and consistency is so spotty that it could be a bug, a feature, an omission or by design ... any or all are possible!

I bet if Macrumors made a post about this issue and if gets big in social media, I am almost sure Apple would consider looking at it. Because that gap is very unnecessary.

Why would Apple put resources into something that only a small fraction of its user base is requesting it? I have no idea of how many people are requesting this ability, but my question still stands.

I will repeat. If this "design" works with some phones and don't work with others, then there is clearly an issue. Period.

Don’t all iPhones have 7 rows of icons regardless of model? The SE is smaller so graphically it looks better. That can’t be said of the Pro Max models for sure.

Consistency is a great argument for Apple discontinuing support for the SE 2020. 🤣
Not for iOS 18. Still going strong. The reason why I kept the SE2020 because I hate FaceID and hoping TouchID would be out for SE2024 or some other model but never happened.
