Hi, I'm a junior in high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota and I am doing a project about iPods and how they work. I have one main problem is that everyone I e-mail or ask including people at the mac store don't know how it works specifically just what it does when it is working. I was wondering if there was someone here whos either repaired or at the very least taken one apart that could tell me more specifically how an iPod works from hard drive, to flash memory, to the LCD, to the buttons or any one of these parts. Thanks.

Good luck with the project. I would say that just because someone has taken one apart does not mean they know how it works. There are lots of people who have posted "autopsy" photos of their iPods. You could search for iPod autopsy on Google and try to contact the people whos sites come up. However, I think a lot of those people were doing it out of curiosity to see the insides or to see if they could put it back together, not necessarily for repairs or anything, so like I said, they might not be able to provide you with the information you are seeking.
