I don't know that I have had any e-mail issues that weren't software or server setting shortcomings. I don't like that e-mail comes into three separate account screens instead of one, and I can't get my AT&T e-mail to go out on any server that isn't the antiquated CWMX.com, which might be as fast as dial-up. So I have to use a gmail account to send.

But I get stuff within 15 minutes. No push, but it's not bad.

mine is not working good for the last 4 days. I have yahoo account. I get a connection server issue. I already deleted and reentered it. None of my other friends are having this issue. This is the first time I get this problem.

RIM's system is relatively reliable, but its centralized structure means that any problems can affect millions of users.

The same same thing that gives Blackberry its strength is also its Achilles' heel. Regardless of what carrier you're on or how your server is configured, all e-mail destined for Blackberries goes through RIM's infrastructure. When it works (which is most of the time), it works wonderfully. When it goes down, everyone with a Blackberry is affected.

With most other phones, the connection is made directly between the phone and the mail server, so your phone or mail server specifically having problems will not translate into a worldwide outage.

Of course you don't get your BB PIN messaging without a Blackberry, and to use push you need a server that can do MS Exchange-like behavior (or MobileMe). So for some, it's a tradeoff.

But this again highlights the criticality of having a single point of failure, with no workarounds. Sidekick users got a taste of it, and so did Palm Pre users. Now Blackberry Users are getting a li'l reminder.

Mine makes a ding sound and vibrates. Then I look to see if I have a new number on the Mail icon badge. Then I tap it with my finger and read my new email.

The fact that I have push enabled and when I go in to check my mail, I constantly have to download my e-mail. I dont understand why push is enabled if I still have to download my email right when I go in.

Mine normally works flawlessly but yesterday it wasn't pushing at all. I did the normal fix of restarting the phone and then it was OK for about an hour and spotty after that. It's been fine today. Oh, and this is using Yahoo email.

Email Excellence!

Always good and now that I use Mobile Me even better. I have four accounts with two of them forwarding to the ME.com account. This means the phone only needs setup for two of them, me.com and gmail. I am surprised that Mobile me works as well as it does. I just wish I could set up junkmail filters on the iPhone. I used to have a Pop3 on the iPhone but had intermittent problems with that account. Now that it forwards to an imap account things are truly good-to-go.

I find it funny that my company's e-mail, on Exchange Server, arrives on my iPhone faster than on my wired laptop in the office.

I noticed that too. My exchange & my gmail arrive on my iPhone before it arrives on my Outlook on my laptop.

Yahoo Mail is broken for me today. I have to manually check for new messages instead of them getting pushed to me as they normally are.

I've been having problems with the Google Sync not pushing mail for the past couple days..... Anyone else having this problem?

Yeah, my iPhone will 'ding' in my pocket when it gets a G-Mail message (using Exchange). This prompts me to click the "refresh" button in my Mac's Mail program to get the e-mail.

My iPhone is just an 'e-mail detection system' while I'm at my desk!

Same problem here, it hasn't been pushing messages to me for the past couple days..the rare times it has, they've been messages i've received hours earlier
