i have a iPhone 6s plus and was thinking about updating to iOS 10, but i wanted to see is the battery drain still there like it was with some of the beta's..

Halfway though a day of use, it seems about the same as 9.3.5, which is to say excellent (iPhone SE). Maybe even a tad better, which would be impressive, since I'm probably using it more due to trying out the new os.

This happens with every new iOS release, the first few days it looks like the battery life has gotten much worse.

That's not the case.

The first few days after you get a new OS the OS is doing a lot of work during downtime like indexing files, organizing photos, cleaning up ghost files, etc and that work in the background is what's making your battery look weaker.

Give it 2 or 3 days, things will be back to normal.

phone gets seriously hot, usually when plugged in. Once indexing is complete normal battery life should resume
