I’m still running 17.7 because the general impression I’m getting is performance of the new OS is bad even on the newest iPads. Just curious how people with M1 iPads have been faring. I'd love to move forward with the the new OS but not if it makes using my iPad clunky and glitchy.

I’m on a iPad Pro 11 1st gen (2018) model and performance is not any worse than iPadOS 17.6 was. If not for the memory issues caused by have 4 GB of RAM it would be very good. As such I’d expect the M1 performance to be very good.

That said iPadOS 18.0.1 is buggy. The bugs don’t make the iPad unusable, but they are noticeable. I have to restart every few days because of odd issues.

It works mostly fine on my devices (M1 Pro 12.9 & M1 Pro 11).

My devices have a glitch where some apps on the dock are showing placeholder icons instead of the actual app icons. In terms of usage though, I haven't really had any issues and I appreciate the new Control Center as well as being able to place icons relatively freely on the home screen (something Android has had forever and still implements better).

Since the initial developer beta release of iPadOS 18, I have been using the operating system without encountering any significant issues. Notably, all Microsoft applications have been functioning flawlessly, which is uncommon. All other issues with other applications (Citrix) have been resolved. The same is true for iPadOS 18.1.

I encountered this issue with iOS. However, editing the Home Screen resolved the problem. I believed I was the only one reporting this, as I was running large icons in Night Mode without app names.

I notice no change in performance or battery life on 18.0.1 compared to latest versions of iOS17 On my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. No regrets in updating
