i5 CPU version but upgraded to nvme and 40gb memory. Will this new macOS slow on 2017 hardware? how does it compare to Monterey? Thanks!

Ventura speed is fine on my 27" iMac Core i5-7600 with 24 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. Make sure you have proper backups though of course. I upgraded from Monterey directly to 13.1 and it nuked my Photos library. It also did something to my system directory since now About This Mac can't seem to figure out how much room it is using under Storage section.

I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or if going from 12.6.1 directly to 13.1 had anything to do with it. On my 2017 MacBook, going from 12.6.1 to 13.0 was not a problem.

@oKUtItyp was there any slow down at all? I am still on 10.14 (Mojave and upgraded the 40GB ram - imac207.

@EugW - I've left my MacBook 2017 still on Mojave - its not 'snappy' - thus so curious if you've experienced any slow down and/ or faster battery drain?
thank guys.
