Overheating was with 9 Beta 5.
I have installed GM build so let's see how it goes on my 5S.

It's going quite well on my 5s. I clean installed w/ the GM IPSW and restored from an iCloud backup of 8.4.1. Lagged at first boot, a reboot fixed that. It's running beautifully.

I've heard it is still pretty bad from several people.

I strongly suggest waiting out 9.0 until 9.0.1 is released, which is what I'll be doing, or try out 9.0 first on a 5s at the Apple Store to see if it's fast enough for you before upgrading.

I have the 5s and I've already had to restore twice from the iOS 9 betas because of terrible overheating and lag issues. I'll stick with the super-smooth 8.4.1 until 9.0.1.

iOS9 GM performance has been fine on my 5S, but battery life has been far worse than any previous iOS release. Standby time is great, but usage time is abysmal. Just browsing the web for the last 10 minutes has dropped my battery 7%. Not acceptable IMO.
