A few months ago I bought an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds: Beben X8. I didn't wanna drop the $$$ for AirPods just yet, so I went budget (read:cheap). They work great if I use them when sitting still, e.g., listening to music from my iPhone sitting in the easy chair or poolside.

A couple months ago I took them for a hike, with my phone in a cargo shorts pocket. While playing music the buds seem to lose connection briefly, then reconnect. A few seconds later they pause for a heartbeat, then reconnect. Over & over this goes. If I hold the phone in my hand, waist-level, that alleviates the connection issue.

I took a walk with my new Apple Watch S3, paired to the Bebens and had the same issue. If I hold my wrist nearer to waist or chest level, it's a solid connection but when walking at a normal gait with arms in motion, I have the intermittent dropped connection issue.

Do Apple AirPods suffer the same problem?

The Bluetooth reception with my AirPods Pro is great. I often get 30-40 feet of reception range if there are no obstructions (line-of-sight).

My guess is that you got what you paid for with your discount earbuds.
