Is the microphone any good - will it be able to pick up my voice from about 2 - 2.5 ft away?

It's decent. The sound on the iPhone SE is not as loud as the iPhone 6s for comparison, because it likely has a smaller speaker driver. When I owned the SE and my 6s at the time, the SE was significantly quieter. I use the speaker phone quite often for calls and the SE was the Not the strongest for sound quality, but understandbly so.
