I have yet to purchase my iPad, and was wondering how the actual performance is on your iPad.

E.g. Do you have any apps crashing, lagging, or general slowness? I read the "memory hog" thread and was worried that the iPad isn't as fast or powerful as apple makes it seem. Especially with multitasking around the corner, do you think iPad can keep up? If not, are you worried about your purchase? Again I am concerned with the day-to-day PERFORMANCE with the device.

It is tits. Fast and responsive and snappy as hell. Ive had no crashes, no freezes and my wifi has worked to perfection since Day one

been pretty perfect. very fast. the one thing that kind of annoys me but im used to it cause I have an iphone. but for some reason it makes me madder on the ipad cause it has a bigger screen lol... when your loading a webpage and its not done yet and you scroll too fast the screen gos to like that checkerboard transparent thing. Im used to scrolling down before the page is fully loaded and it just stopping me if that part isnt done yet but on the iphone/ipad the whole screen turns checkerboard and freezes for a second then comes back.

When I first picked it up, I was surprised that it was much faster than I expected. Just as fast as my Macbook and utterly glitch free. A beautiful thing !

I love my iPad more and more each day I don't see any performance issues or app crashes etc. No wifi issues everything has performed so well on it I honestly hate putting it down.

Phenomenal performance.

Most apps are fine, but a few need bug fixes. In general bug fixes were due to devs not having the hardware and now that the hardware out, bug fixes are coming very quickly.

Teh ipad is the snappy is the best way to sum it up.

For example I can launch Netflix app and watch a moving in just a few seconds. The longest aspect of Netflix is waiting for it to buffer a few seconds.

So far so good. I had one issue and that was with Zinio, it didn't freeze my iPad but the app froze and unlike my iPhone hitting the home button closed the app and didn't have any ill-effects thereafter. To ensure things were ok I did reboot. This was all due to zinio.

The iPad tells me that not upgrading to the 3GS may have been a bad idea as the 3GS would have been a nice speed boost over the 3G, but I wonder if the speed of the 3GS is close to that of an iPad.

I throw dollars at my iPad but it's yet to "perform" for me. Any suggestions? woka woka..

Loading programs is generally blazing fast.

....but at times I get extremely frustrated with it's ability to load some webpages. Some pages like engadget and anandtech takes a bit long. And when i scroll there's a lot of checkers because it can't render the page fast enough.

With that said...the performance is very snappy overall.

Couldn't be more impressed with its performance. Fast, smooth, and no freeze ups or crashes yet, and I've got a total of 57 apps on it at present.

It's been incredibly fast and the only hang up I experienced was when my wife visited Yahoo Korea and it froze for a few seconds (my heart stopped). But it all came back to normal right away.

So far this has been a joy to use. Everything works like it should. Posting this with Atomic Browser full screen.

No crashes, no freezes but no tits either. Then again, if it had tits I might never put it down ;-)

I have had a weird issue where the icons don't move properly when changing from portrait to landscape & back. That happened a couple times but resolved itself. As for speed - I wouldn't call it blazingly fast but it's certainly snappy. I don't notice any kind of lag like I sometimes see on my iPhone 2g.

I've only had 2 apps crash, ABC player (it's a piece of garbage) and goodreader choked and died on a huge PowerPoint file (70 high resoultion images) other than that, this thing is great, the 1ghz A4 chews up everything! Much faster than my 3GS, and typing is a breeze.

Do you mean perky young 20 year old perfection tits or old softball in the sock tits, or the hang over the belly tits, or the old man in the undershirt tits, or the mosquito bite tits or the ironing board tits, or the mega DDDDDDDD jumbo balloon tits?

I find the browsing to be a bit slow compared to my desktop.

Everything else is really snappy, but the browsing has these little delays that do make it feel closer to a mobile device in performance, this is compared to my desktop that has everything pop up instantly with broadband wifi.

It isn't a show stopper, but it is noticeable.

It's fast and responsive, but could use 512MB of RAM instead of the 256. It is a memory hog, but it's great.

Lightning fast here with no issues. Well I do have one issue, I can start the iPad from shutdown and load and read my email in about 20 seconds... My pc at work takes about 20 minutes. After using the iPad full time for the last 2 weeks, XP + outlook + mcafee = fail

Attempted objective review of performance:

Overall very impressed with it's speed compared to the iPhone 3GS. Overall I would say it's half as fast in processing applications and half as fast in it's responsiveness to user input to input as my 3.2Ghz windows PC.

Have had some apps crash on me. keynote , omnigraffle, netflix.

The bulky apps such as thos I just mentioned can be sluggish when working with complex documents filled with shapes, theft and images.

Safari seems kinda slow for me as well. A few apps have crashed on me. Wi-fi doesn't seem to always auto connect to my home network. Other than that, I think the iPad works well in general, given that this is the first gen. I remember when OS 2.0 first came out. Apps crashing all over the place....
