As most of you know, there are signs that new iPad may be available in March. How likely will a new iPad PRO 12.9 be available in March? If I buy one now and a new one comes out in March, can I return it and exchange for the new version?

I don't think we'll see a new iPad Pro that soon.

You have 14 days to return it.

March release would be the baseline iPad. The current 9.7 inch iPad was released March last year, so it is time for this one to be refreshed. The current iPad Pro was released June last year during WWDC. So June refresh would be likely. Possibly punsh to October this year.

You can buy it at Costco, if there is in your area. Costco offers 90 day return for electronic product. You can buy it and return near May. Then you can buy it again, so you have other 90 day return period.

Thanks. Costco is our friend!

Just don’t abuse the return system. In one day, they will shut us down if we abuse the system. I brought the 9.7 iPad from them, because I know that if there is refresh on March, I can return and get new one.

I don’t mind an iPad at the end of the year if it means we get the A12X chip instead of the A11X. I know both will still be plenty fast, but still...

Apple’s schedule is all messed up right now. Before you get March release of iPhone, then June release of iPad. Remember A4 processor was first appeared on iPad, then appeared on the iPhone 4. Then A5 appeared on iPad 2 first, then iPhone 4S. Then you get September release of iPhone, then October release if iPad. Now it is all over the places. You get iPhone SE released on March. Then you get some iPad released on March, some released on June and some released on October. It is all over the places now.

It would be nice that Apple goes back to regular schedule. iPhone on September and iPad on October for holiday season.

I think Apple is trying to spread out its product releases. One could be to ease manufacturing bottlenecks. End of the year is always crunch time for iPhone manufacturers. At the same time, you don’t have the iPhone SE competing with the more expensive (and profitable) flagship iPhones.

Second, pushing products to the first half of the year also helps to smooth out the revenue for Apple. Rather than have all their income come in the last quarter of the year.

Last, flooding the market with too many new products at the same time could turn consumers off. It would be easier for me to stomach the thought of buying an iPad in June, iPhone in September, Apple Watch in March etc rather than bust my credit card picking all of them up at the same time.

Nobody knows for sure, but the rumors point to a regular ipad update in March, but the ipad pros not being updated until June at the WWDC. If you can wait until March then wait. We should get a clearer picture of what Apple plans to do then.

If you need or really want an iPad, get one. Waiting for the next latest and greatest is essentially meaningless, as the latest and greatest is always coming, even after you buy a new unit.

Those who are hung up on waiting and waiting, usually do it for the bragging rights for a few short months. To me, that is meaningless.

To me it's a matter of longevity (I like to keep my tech as long as possible) and getting the most value out of a purchase. I also rather enjoy the wait, all this suspense is exciting!
