After many years, we finally saw a foldable phone (in NA, anyway) that uses the exact same screen dimensions for it's cover display as the screen on the normal slab phone from the same manufacturer, namely in the form of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold from Google. With this milestone finally being achieved, how likely do you think a folding phone with the same cover screen dimensions as the large slab flagship phone from the same manufacturer is, or just around the size of the larger phones we have now?
Personally, my experience with foldables has been that I end up doing most things on the cover display, and only end up opening the inner display for videos, scans or documents that were clearly meant for A4 paper, or websites that just fail to load with a mobile browser or need a more desktop like area to be usable. While many would say that at that point, a foldable may not be for me, seeing how low the value proposition drops, I disagree: the use I get out of the inside screen and the significance of the degree of improvement it brings to the tasks it improves makes it worthwhile to me.
The deficiency in foldables for me really is almost exclusively in the outer screen and in how it's smaller than the screen of my current phone. So for me, a foldable that has an outer screen that's closer to my iPhone 14 Pro Max would be ideal… like the current Pixel 9 Pro XL as opposed to the Pixel 9 Pro whose screen size the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's cover screen currently shares. It would be something like a "Pixel 10 Pro XL Fold." Is this a likely thing to look out for in the next couple of years, or is this whole idea just ridiculous (phone would be way too heavy, etc)?
