I just thought I'd start this thread to see how many people think apple will be forced to make a windows xcode? I think this will happen, because of the iphone. Right now as it is if you want to develop an iphone app you need a mac. I think as iphone marketshare of iphones grow this will be ruled as anti-competitive.

I hope not.

If you want to develop iPhone, you buy a Mac.

iPhone has a looong way to.. iPhone is what, 12% or so in marketshare.

I can't see Apple doing this. It would cut into their own Mac sales, and Xcode is inherently a Mac platform, and I imagine that Apple wants to emphasise the integration between Mac OS, iOS and Xcode.

Never. Its not a particularly good development environment. Eclipse/Visual Studio are far better.

For what reason?

Mac sales are high. Developers seem just fine getting their hands on Macs.

Who's going to "force" Apple? It's Apple's own platform, after all.
