How long did it take for Apple to replace your notebook?

The reason why I'm asking is because my MBP helps me a lot at school and I feel really behind without it. Yesterday I just sent my MBP to Apple in Elk Grove, CA and it should be delivered to them today, they are replacing it with a new C2D 2.33 15".

How long did this process take if you've received a replacement from them? That means from the very day you shipped the unit back to them? Please let me know if you have feedback, this'll calm my nerves but all the more ignite my excitement over my new C2D MBP. Have a great day

They say between one and two weeks. Its usually either one day, one week or two weeks, not between.

my imac replacement shipped to me the same day i shipped my old one back. they didnt even wait until they got it, they waited until they had confirmation from Fed Ex that they had picked the broken one up from me

what was wrong with your MBP if I may ask?

The first issue was that one time I heard my MBP pop and then in a literal sense, i heard a lawnmower noise throughout both speakers and the keyboard. My laptop would also never go to sleep, when I would take it out of my backpack I would find my laptop unbearably hot and that 30% of my battery was drained.

The second issue was that ever since they replaced the cooling sensor, hard drive, and everything else.. I was getting one to two kernal panics a day, my iSight camera no longer showed up after 2 reformats, my superdrive was very selective on what it read (it basically spin up, and spat out... even Apple driver discs), and it had the same problems not sleeping. The thing that ignited my irritance was that in the middle of a very important presentation, it kernal panicked, and the company I was demo-ing some medical software to, it wouldn't read the disc when I needed it to.

Apple opted to replace it if these issues became a problem again. They did, my notebook has trouble reading certain discs, it wakes up when it feels like it (and no, i dont have wireless devices that wake it up), and worst off, the kernal panics came back.


The only thing keeping me happy is getting a C2D. After that little kernal panic fiasco during the presentation, my ass is now on the line at work, not to mention my boss told me to not come back until I have a working and reliable computer

what's the typical procedure? i had my mbp for less than 2 weeks when apple decided to replace it because of kernel panics. i sent it back friday, and they got it monday (day before recent release). i haven't heard anything from them. will they let me know when my replacement is sent? do they send them overnight?

One of my friends MacBook was randomly shutting down so he arranged for it to be sent back. UPS collected it Monday this week at 16:00 and he got it back Wednesday at 15:00 so he had it back fixed in 48 hours.
