I just got a new iphone today, for $299 i said why not?

i just got the "Your Activation Requires Additional Time to Complete" message.

i read all the previous post, and other blogs out there, and folks were saying it was taking 24-36+ hours...

Just wondering, what are you guys normal time was?

Since there should not be a rush going on..

Today: Is 9/8/07 1:42 PM, EST (so far 4hrs waiting)

It took me about 12 hours. It should have only taken a few minutes, but I was porting a number I put the wrong password into the iTunes setup. Unfortunately, it does take a while to talk to the right people and get things in place to fix it. I should point out that I activated the phone late at night and didn't make the proper calls until morning. I'm still guessing 3 hours or so anyway.

I activated yesterday and transfered my phone number over from dreaded Suncom :p It took about 5 to 6 minutes to activate the phone and I was able to receive calls(aka the number transfer completed) about 4 hours later.

just call att with another phone and see if they can flip the activation switch on their end. I think i remember hearing some people having success with this during the launch. couldn't hurt.

i bought mine today and activation took maybe one minute, if that.

I bought my iPhone 2 weeks ago tomorrow but didn't port my phone number until this past Monday (long story...had to wait until our T-Mobile contract officially ended last Saturday, and hubby got a new phone on his first available day off).

I was able to make outgoing calls on the iPhone in about 3 hours after the porting process begun but incoming calls were only on my old Sidekick 3 (my former T-Mobile phone) until the following morning...so about 15 hours total. And the data on my Sidekick didn't stop for another 30 hours after that. Dunno why; neither does T-Mobile (grin).

Bought one on price drop day and it took less than a minute. My wife saw mine and requested her own. Trying to activate hers this morning and got the 'needs more time' message. It's been an hour so far.
