Until the credit goes back into my checking acct?

I ordered it from Apple and it's currently shipping (in Hong Kong right now), and long story short I didn't know that Apple charges you for the iPad when it ships, I thought when the order cleared after I placed it, it was done and paid for.

Needless to say when it shipped I didn't have enough in my acct and now I'm overdrawn.

When it arrives on my doorstep and I ship it back, how long til I get the credit? FYI I'm in Southern California, and isn't that where it goes back to?
 
Why not just return in it to the apple store? Even if its far away from wherever you are located ... you'll get the money back much faster than the time it takes to ship it back.
 
Um, I was under the impression anything ordered from Apple.com must be returned back to them??? Can somebody else confirm an Apple store will take online returns?
 
You'd probably get a quicker and more accurate response contacting your local Apple store.
 
I just did, and she informed me they can only do store credit for online returns. I seriously HATE when people on here spout what they think are facts, but are totally false and inaccurate.

The person at the Apple store is the one with the bad information. As long as you have the purchasing credit card with you at the time of the return they will issue a credit on the credit card itself. The only instance where they give you store credit for an online return is when you don't have the same card with you. I have returned Apple.com purchases on several occasions and that's always been the case. As recently as May.
 
How the heck did you not see the purchase clear your account before it shipped? If you are overdrawn then you probably don't have untold amounts of money and keep a close eye on your account.

Getting mad at people here or at the Apple store for your mistake is not going to help you buddy. Don't buy stuff you cannot afford is your best plan of action.

Exactly. The original poster makes little sense. If he thought it cleared right after the order is placed then he should have assumed that money was out of his account right then and there. So, it shouldn't have mattered when Apple took the money out. Furthermore, if he's in this situation I don't understand how he could not have realized the money was not taken out. I gather I have much more money in my checking and I'd certainly notice an extra 400-600 bucks in there.

Get a check register, responsibly manage your money and avoid coming on here and attacking Apple and others for your silly mistake.
 
When CAN you afford the iPad? The bank won't return the penalty anyway. Why not keep the iPad and bring your balance back up?

Completely agree. I've returned iPods and other items purchased online through the actual store and didn't have to get store credit, refunded me either cash or to my credit card.
