This is bugging me as I keep seeing it in the Apple store app and getting emails saying I still have to return my old phone and that my loan will kick back in if not received by the 14th.

I dropped the box at FedEx Monday. From MA to PA it has to have gotten there by now, Saturday. In unfortunately FedEx was swamped when dropping and I just left it with the guy, so no receipt or tracking. My fault there as I would have much more peace of mind if I had tracking.

I’ve called Apple for the return tracking 3 times this week and they are just complete idiots. They keep giving me my tracking for the box to me.

So I’m on day 5-6 since returning and no confirmation.

How long has the process taken you from ship to acknowledge?

A lot of us are in the same boat. I shipped mine on the 29th and it still says it hasn’t left my city. 😳

Thank you. When you say it hasn’t left your city, is that per FedEx tracking?
Yes. I actually just messaged Apple through iMessage and they said that I should not need to worry about it and even though they haven’t received it my trade-in credit has already been approved. At least I have that in writing. Well kind of.

Yeah, the problem is I don’t trust anything they say. The service advisors just guess at crap these days. So disappointing. Good you have it in writing.

Same here. My returns say PENDING from FedEx. Chatted with Apple a few times and they say everything is fine. FedEx is garbage.

If you didn't get the receipt with tracking, if you have a Fedex account, you can look up your tracking info there. On Fedex Website, where it says Tracking on the Header > Manage my Delivery.

Just for comparison, I shipped mine via UPS on Oct 1. UPS delivered on Oct 5, but the Apple Store app did not acknowledge delivery until Oct 8. I never had notices from Apple, but the Apple Store app seems to be keeping track of it. Now in inspection stage.

We dropped both of ours off on Wednesday 9/29. According to the tracking it was scheduled for delivery by 10/1. They received on 10/5. Then took 24 hours for Apple to close both loans. FedEx has been absolutely horrible the last few months.

Hmmm…I have a FedEx account but the label was created by Apple or the company they use for trade in processing. I’ll take a look though.

What I found odd is that the shipment to me was UPS for the kit, peel off the label and it’s FedEx back.

Even if the label was created by Apple, it still should show up there. Even for the return shipping label provided by apple it still shows up on my fedex delivery manager.

I dropped mine off at the Fed Ex place on Thursday Sept 30th and received email on Wednesday Oct 6 that my trade in was complete.

You are the man! Thank you. It was there and delivered Thursday. I assume it will get inspected Monday and processed.

2 phones shipped from a FedEx store at the same time. All scans for each phone were within minutes of each other until delivery to AI in Carlisle. The were then scanned in 2 1/2 hours apart. Trade in acceptance notifications for each were then a full day apart. Actual credits to my card were less than 5 minutes apart. Total time from shipment to actual credits on my card was 9 days including a weekend.

Glad that worked. Hopefully your trade in will go through.

Just having proof and tracking puts me at ease. The phone is in great shape. I always ship to store and process my trade when picking up. If you don’t ship to store then they won’t take your trade after the fact which is stupid. Only reason why I shipped to home, or my business in the case, is because I was on vacation when it arrived a few fridays ago. Waiting for the kit to ship and arrive was also slow.

Just to close the loop, receipt acknowledged and loan closed out exactly one week from dropping it at Fedex and two business days after it was delivered to Apple or whoever their outsourced processor is in PA.

The 3rd rep at apple I spoke with told me fedex drop boxes isnt who apple contracts with. I should have dropped at a fedex store front or a Walgreens. funny that’s no where in those threatening emails they send telling you they’re going to charge you for two phones when you only have 1.

flat out was told she was surprised it showed any tracking updates after 4 days and most of the time they get lost when dropped in a box because “that’s not fedex ground”…whoa, didn’t know I had to be a shipping logistics expert to join IUP

Yeah, those boxes aren't for ground which is annoying. The cheapest shipping option (ground) doesn't allow you to use the most convenient FedEx option. Fedex sucks these days. Shipping is slow and service is poor.

FedEx tracking is absolutely horrendous. It’s just as bad as the post office…maybe worse.

Good news is once the phone actually gets there, it’s a quick process. Mine got there on a Wednesday and they were done Thursday.

My trade in with Apple was sent through UPS. It was received the next day and they credited me the day after that. So about 2 days total.

I have always wondered how different it would be pre-ordering a new iPhone and trading in an older one.

For the last few years, I have been doing both through Best Buy.

Pre-ordered my 13 Pro Max Graphite 512GB and traded in my 12 Pro Max Graphite 256GB for which I got $800, used $550 in Best Buy gift cards and the net after all was said and done, I paid $78.70 for which I have to preface by saying that, in order to pre-order, there was a requirement to pay 95% as the only way to purchase it as close to outright and still pre-order. I am going to pay off the $78.70 later this month and I will own my 13 Pro Max outright.
