How long is the recommended initial charge time?

I ask because I have to work tomorrow and I'd like to have the phone with me, or at least have my old phone still usable while it charges. Plus of course I want to follow what is recommended so that the battery lasts as long as possible and maintains charge cycles.

Just watch the icon in the top right hand corner.
Just do it over night and it will be fine. I would think if you do 6 hours that is idea. At least 4 hours IMO

Well that's easy enough, I ask mainly because I know some devices, particularly those that end up being in use quite often, will recommend you to overcharge a bit the first time you use it. Just wondering if that were the case with this too.

I'd recommend for the first couple of charges run the battery all the way down to the warning then let charge overnight (or until charging complete). Then I recommend doing this about once a month.

There's no rule that says you have to follow this, it's just worked really well for me and my first gen!

Yeah, I know this rule is especially good for maintaining good battery life on notebook computers.

If it already comes fully charged then that's perfect for me. I remember back in the day that overcharging led to slowly ruining the life of your batteries, but that isn't really the case anymore right? Like you could just let your phone charge overnight (more than necessary in any case) every night and not "ruin" it right? I've always been kinda paranoid of charging my devices until full and then promptly unplugging them, this is still what I'm probably going to be doing but it would be good info to know in any case.

True but usually it dies fast the first time you use it, but that could just have been because my new phone could have been sitting there in the box for a while. I got mine in April and the date on the phone was Feb.

But that is why I said to charge it and watch for the icon to say its done

No, it dies really fast the first time you use it because you keep that screen lit up playing with the damn thing all night. After the first day, normal use sets in.
