I have a 5th gen 12.9 Pro and my warranty will be up next month but I haven’t ever been impressed with the battery life, but maybe it is fine and my expectations are too high. I really only use it casually, no games but browsing and YouTube. Is there a way to see if it is normal without having to set up an appointment?

Share a screenshot of the “last 24 hours” battery page, maybe we can help.

Try to make it less than 24 hours so the entire cycle is on the screenshot, the more info the better. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t offer “time since last full charge” anymore.

Around 5.5 hours onscreen time with less than 50% battery drain. That's meeting Apple's advertised 10-hr battery life. That looks pretty normal to me specially if you're using it at 30-50% brightness.

I tend to get longer battery life but I also have the brightness set really low (0-15%).

It looks pretty on par imo. If I’m reading correctly, you charged it to 100%, you’re around 45-50% right now, and you’ve had nearly 5.5 hours of screen on time. The iPads are, or at least used to be, marketed for 10 hours of battery life. So, being around 5-5.5 hours of screen on time with around 50% battery is putting you right on target for 10 hours of battery life.

Depends on brightness, which is one of the most important factors, and by itself, is the most important factor, but that said:

The Facebook app is awful in terms of battery drain. It has always been. 5.5 hours on 46% isn’t absolutely amazing, but it‘s decent. If brightness is remotely high, to get more you have to lower it, and Facebook would need to be curtailed. In fact, I am surprised it’s even at 5.5 hours with that app. It was used quite heavily by people back with the iPhone 6 and 6s, and those threads are full of people complaining about battery life, only for Facebook to be the sole culprit. I’ve never used it, but it was a frequent complaint. The rest of the apps are fine, Safari isn’t too heavy.

Overall, it’s not as awful as the initial post made me think. What’s the brightness set at?

Like @rui no onna said, if brightness is high you need to decrease it to get more, otherwise it’s impossible.

Ok so battery is doing good or expected. I keep the brightness around 40%, I also never use my iPad this much in a 24 hour period. I can go several days without using it, I suppose I need to power it off or put in airplane mode
