I last around 2 hours.
I'm a college student, so sometimes I need to have it in class for longer than this.
What can I do to help this?
I have the silver Macbook Pro if that helps.

There is only a silver MacBook Pro. Apple advertises the 15.4" model as having up to 6 hours of battery life. In practice, usage time may vary based on display brightness, processing activity, and use of connectivity options i.e. WiFi and Bluetooth.

If it's a new computer, it should be lasting longer than two hours on a full charge provided the display brightness is kept low. What do you need a laptop for in class, anyways? You should be able to use your MacBook Pro for word processing for over three hours on a full charge.

Thats about the best you can get from it really after a good lot of use. Try dimming the screen and putting it to sleep when you really dont need it.

Buy a second power adapter for it to take around with you so when you get a chance you can plug it in and up the juice. Or buy another battery for it, and swap them about when needed, making sure they are charged with you as much as possible.

Few options there, hope that helps!!! :)

Thank for the help.

And everyone uses laptops in college nowadays...just how old ARE you?
I asked for help, not criticism.

I use my 15" MBP in class to take notes, pages is great for that. All told, while I'm in class I have wifi disabled, bluetooth disabled (always anyway since I have no bluetooth devices), I dim the screen as far as I can and I shut down any programs that I don't need. Last semester I had two classes back to back and on battery it would run me through both of those totaling 2 and a half hours and I'd still have about 35-40% battery left.

Thank for the help.

He wasn't criticizing you. He was trying to ask what you are using your MBP for to get a better idea of what solutions to suggest, i.e. if you use power sucking software like PS, bluetooth or WLAN connections, etc. Many things can be responsible for draining you battery quicker.

One other suggestion is to adjust your system's Energy Saver in addition to the above ideas.

If i didn't read your title!.....?!?! :D

The first thing I thought the post was about was running a Mac Pro on battery!!! Now thats an achievement!!!

Was just the use of really shortened descriptions, got the main message in the end!! :)

Anything that uses energy reduces the battery life.

Turn Airport and Bluetooth off if you don't need them. In Preferences, check your "Energy Saver" setting. Reduce the brightness of the screen. Don't run programs unnecessarily that waste CPU time, or screen savers. (Open Activity Monitor to find out what programs are doing). If you have very little RAM, that can both slow your computer down and eat battery life because your computer has to use the harddisk more often. If you have 512MB of RAM you most definitely want to buy more; if you have 1GB you might consider it.

And at last, go to www.apple.com, type in "battery" and read the information about how to look after your battery.
