Hi guys,

Well im concerned that my imac is slowing down and is taking to long to boot-up, because when i first got him the imac was a bit faster. So i was thinking i should ask you guys for your boot-up duration before i reinstall Mac OS X.

PS: does anyone have a step to step tutorial how to reinstall your mac? in case i need it...

Thanks!

Mladen

maybe you have too many programs turned on in your log in items, that can slow the boot up a lot.

I have a G5 iMac and it takes about 35-40 seconds to boot Leopard

If my external HDDs are plugged in, it would take an extra 30 seconds to boot up - don't know why

My iMac takes a good 2 or 3 minutes...

My hackintosh Vaio takes about 30 seconds, its mindblowing...

Plus the USB is faster on my vaio for some reason.

Well one of the iMac G5's at my school takes about 40 seconds to start up but it isn't used much. The ones that are used frequently can take up to 1 minute. My MacBook takes 35 seconds to go to the log in screen.

Well not necessarily It all depends on how old his PC may be and how much Spyware and crap may be installed on it too.

yeah my computers are bout about 6 years old, a 256 (ram) laptop with something like a 800 mhz processor and a desktop with 512 ram and 1.4 ghz (but may also run slower because its running vista and a upgraded gfx card)

they were always slow though, i could get more computing out of a g3.
