So Ipad Air 2 : IOS 8,9,10,11

Just wondering here. How long do you think the Ipad Air 2 will last

My iPad Air is still fine for my daily use, I'll probably replace it next year.

No problems at all with mine. For you that spotted more than normal lag,try shutting down all active apps (double-click home button, sweep apps up),clean browser history in ALL browsers installed, clean up your mailboxes and permanently remove everything you don't need, turn off iPads power switch, wait for one or two minutes, restart, and you might find that it works a lot better.

The Air 2 runs iOS 11 awesomely even better then iOS 10, it'll start to slow on iOS 12 and then iOS 13 or iOS 14 will be its last. It depends on how much Apple is going to really add to iOS in the coming years. If they do another iOS 10 update with little features for iPad's I would expect the Air to last till iOS 14 but if they keep at this pace like iOS 11, then they would probably cut off the Air 2 at iOS 13. The big question for the Air 2 is will it be the first iOS device to get 6 years of updates or will it receive the classic 5 years with the iPad Pro+ getting 6 years support.

I just got a refurb'd iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 for my household. To me, both seem fine (I believe basically the same processor, but with a tweak for the larger Air 2 display). Hopefully can still get a couple years out of them.

IOS 9 - focus on Ipad
IOS 10-Iphone
IOS 11- Ipad
ios 12- Iphone

A8X is pretty powerful . Its very close to A9.

IMO, as long as the 2017 iPad since performance is very similar, 64 bit and has the key of 2 gig of RAM. Hopefully we get to the point where they last 5-10 years. I'm on a 2009 desktop with an i7 processor that is chugging along more than fine with windows 10.

Unfortunately when we get to that point, sales will tumble for the iPad even more than they have.

Even though I bought the ipp 10.5, my Air 2 is going to be fine for a couple more years for sure. For what it's used for, it might kick longer. My iPad 4 and original Mini are all being used just fine.

My guess is 2GB RAM will be a cut off point for Apple. Now that they are differentiating between iOS versions Now there are True IPhone and iPad versions with Unique features. So while iPhones with 2GB RAM will see support. 2GB RAM will start to drop Features on iPad iOS by iOS 12 imo

2gb ram already drops the 3 active app multitasking in iOS 11

I Think the one misconception iPad users tend to believe in (From some readings in the iPad forum) , is there iPad is rendered no longer useful if it's not receiving the latest iOS updates. It still will perform as it always has, there are just certain applications that won't receive updates and it will not receive the latest iOS update. But the iPad itself will Function completely normal as it has before and some appear to believe that there iPad will be non-functional, when that's completely untrue.
