Hi,
I've got a MBP (only about 1mth old) and some keys on the keyboard don't work. My local Apple shop told me I needed a complete new keyboard which they have duly ordered and is now sitting in their service centre. However I've been told they need my MBP for a whole day to make this change!!

I don't want to be without it for a whole day. Am I being taken for a ride, how long does it take to change the keyboard?

Thanks for any replies,
Alex

wow one day and you are complaining?

i have to wait a week for it. i had to wait for them to order the new part from warehouse, then to be serviced. one day is very fast

it wasn't a keyboard change though.

One day - smile

You hould be grateful it's only for one day. The company aim's to have products returned within two days where ever possible. So you should think yourself lucky.

I've already waited two weeks for them to get the keyboard !!!

I can't believe things take this long, surely it's a case of unscrewing a few screws so the MBP casing comes out and then swapping it !? 30mins / 1hr - surely?

They have other computers that need servicing in there as well, and some of them aren't quick jobs.

Exactly. Other customers must be handled. You are not special.

You have two choices: suck it up and bring it in and be without it for a day, or continue using a broken computer. Your choice.

Although it may take less than 1 hour to complete your job for you, they have to do other stuff too, like replacing entire screens, logicboards, and more! The world doesn't just line up to serve you, ya? You have to line up for stuff too.

i have a two month old MBP and the service for (inevitable) damage is atrocious - for the price of an apple care plan, dell provides 24 hour, on-site (as in, wherever you happen to be at the time) service. They show up and can service any part of the laptop in 15 minutes.

Apple's warranty and Apple Care plans do not provide the same level of service; They are a poor value.
