I am using a MacBook as my media server and I cna't stand how loud the fan is. Is the fan inside ATV just as loud when playing HD videos?

Having just taken mine apart to replace the hard disk I can note that there is a fan to cool the CPU, however it is VERY quiet - and I'm very picky about these things!!!!

There is no fan, so no noise.

The is a good size fan. See pic.

So it is quiet even when playing HD stuff?

agree...never hear the fan...the thing isn't audible at all, even when playin HD content

The only, and I mean only, time I hear any noise at all emanating from my :apple:TV is when I power it down -- I hear a barely audible little whine that lasts about .5 seconds as it shuts down. Other than that the thing is essentially totally silent. I knew there was a fan in there, but it must turn very slowly (which would explain why we all notice how hot the thing runs).
