So I finally got myself an imac, but it seems much noisier than when I first got it.

Sat at working distance I can here fans etc whiring away, its loud enough for you not hear it without having to listen out for it.

Is this normal, should it be silent. Some noise must escape but im wondering if mine is to loud.

Thanks

Mine was pretty much completely silent when I got it. But now it is probably the same as yours. I can hear the fans running all the time....quietly but I can still hear them. So Im thinking this is normal.

It depends a lot on the ambient noise level in the room you're using the iMac. If you have to listen to hear the fan noise I would not worry about it.

Mine doesn't make enough noise for me to hear the fans unless I put my ears right next to the machine. It is next to silent.
