how many 17" mbp owners with the horizontal band on the bottom of the screen and dark edges have taken your mbp back to apple to get a new one without the problem?

i'm considering what to do cause i do have the horizontal band on the bottom and dark edges, and if there are people out there without the band, i'd be willing to go through the hassle of returning it and try another one. but if most people have it, then i think i won't go through the hassle and live with the one i have. what do you guys think?

If I do have the band you speak of, it's got to be REALLY faint, cause I've never noticed it. :p It's up to you. It's like playing the lotto it seems like. The only complaint I have is, right where the plastic bezel and aluminum meet above the optical drive slot where my wrist seems to always rest, it seems like it is a little loose and clicks when I put pressure on it. Nothing affected functionally, so I am not complaining to Apple about it, just one of those small things.

I have the dark band at the bottom and dark corners. I am not (or I should say, did not, as I'm past my return date) returning mine. The screen, even with these 'flaws', is still much better than the 2 previous 15" LED models I purchased and returned. I hardly notice the dark corners or darker horizontal line at the bottom.

I've noticed the same issue on the display models. Although one of the display models I saw didn't have the issue as bad as mine seems to have it, I'm not going to risk returning mine and getting something even worse. I have no dead or stuck pixels, and that's more important to me. As far as I'm concerned, my MBP is perfect.

Keep it. Enjoy your new MBP. I am enjoying mine.

haha, that's kinda sad that we're afraid to return it because we might get something worse. yeah, honestly, the band and dark spots are not noticeable, esp. if you use a dark background. oh well, thanks for your feedback.
