How many dead pixels does an iPhone need to have for you to get a replacement?

Mine has about 3, but only one is noticably visible and only on black screens.

Bought mine on release in UK, love it, but not too happy about the pixel problem. Livable, but still, you spend a huge amount of money on something you want it to be perfect.

Take it back and complain, and see what happens. In the US, people got replacements for just one dead pixel.

Someone took theirs back to the Glasgow Apple store on Saturday, with just 1 dead pixel - they replaced it without question.

I've got about 6 dead pixels, taking it back to O2 this week.

The guy in Carphone Warehouse told me that the "official policy" is that you can have up to 25 dead pixels before they're required to change it. But he swapped mine - with four dead ones - anyway.

I think that's ********, though, as my 32" tv requires less dead pixels than that to warrant a switch.

Got a new one now, they just swapped it.

Amazingly, this new one has 2 as well, but nowhere near as bad and invisible if there's something on the screen.

The real problem was itunes...i had to make a new o2 account and do the whole signup process again. I'm worried now, as I may end up with 2 bills coming out. Hopefully, as I'm moving my old o2 contract over the records of will just swap over too...

Time will tell.

They should have swapped the sim card for you and then all iTunes does is activate your phone on your existing contract.

I have 1 dead pixel on my iPhone, not sure it's really worth swapping for a new one or not.

Bought mine at the CPW, had one dead pixel. Swapped it today, swapped the simcards. No arguements or anything regarding it.

25???!!! It'd be practically unusable by that point probably.

The standard for a PDA I believe is about 3, although apple don't actually state a number on their website. Most manufacturers quote about 7 for a standard 14" LCD (that's a way higher pixel count than the iphone).

Yeah, I know! The standard for my 32" LCD TV was 10, I think. So clearly the CPW man was talking out if his arse. He claimed the standard for my TV would've been 1000. Yeah, right.

25 dead pixels on my iPhone screen would make it unwatchable.

I have 7, 5 dimly lit and only visible in the darkest of rooms and then 2 brighter ones. What you mention are not dead pixels but 'stuck' pixels. You can sometimes fix those by flashing the screen with different colours. It certainly reduced the brightness of my two big stuck ones.

I spoke to a 'Genius' today and i could swap it but he said given the location and the fact that he thinks most will have them to an extent he said in his opinion i should keep it and see if it either clears of its own accord or gets worse then swap. Also he pointed out that as of the 31st October 2007 the 14 day period after purchase is extended until January 9th 2008 due to xmas etc.

I just got mine swapped at O2, it had 5 very bright dead pixels, and 3 dimmer ones. No questions asked, although he did say it was the first one he'd seen.

EDIT: The new one is worse than the old one! And the colours are slightly less saturated.

Oh well, most of these are "dim" dead pixels, I'm just going to live with it.
