Hey all!

16" MBP, 2.3 8-core i9, 64gb ram, 5600m graphics.
I'm doing visual projection mapping for a venue which Ive done before using two 1080p projectors at once. We are planning to use 4 projectors at once now (1080p), which I'm hoping I can run all through my MacBook Pro. (non will be mirrored. using Madmapper to map each projector).

Question, will I be able to run 4 projectors, while using my laptops screen for the controls?

In the tech specs I'm confused if the mbp screen counts as a 4th display or not.

It’s pretty clear for me: "Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at millions of colors and Up to four displays…"

I don’t think apple ever includes the built-in display in the count of the number of displays/projectors to use at once

AMD GPUs can run six displays at once, so four externals plus the 16” MBP’s internal screen is possible.

That machine can support it!

I have a MBP 16 5500M running 3x 4k monitors and 1x LG 5k Fine Display with open MBP screen no issue at all.

Your LG UltraFine 5K display can't be running at 5K 60Hz. It needs to be the only display connected to one side of the MBP in order to support 5K 60Hz. Each side can connect two displays. The LG UltraFine 5K counts as two displays. It is probably running at 4K. Check this by using SwitchResX. Double click the current resolution in the Current Resolutions tab for the display in SwitchResX to check the pixel clock and active pixels.

The MacBook counts as the 5th. 4 displays with the main screen
