How many fans does the Macbook have?

I was running smcFancontrol, and 'fan 2' was greyed out and unavailable. Panicking, I ran a hardware test, and everything came out fine. Does smc just not let you control both fans? Or is there just one big-ass fan in the middle of the Macbooks back?
