Okay, some time has passed for those owning the wifi version and I am wondering how many GB's you are at? Be it music, video, work, Apps, etc. I am trying to decide which pad is right for me. I keep thinking do I need 3G and how many GB's? My 16GB iPhone is holding me back, though I have a good amount of music on it, but I also do not plan to put much music on the iPad. it's either the 32GB or 64GB. If you are using video a lot (outside of buying movies from the iTunes store) I am curious how much room you still have.
Thanks a lot. I think I am right with the 64GB though like many of you I am trying to figure out how this tool is going to effect my life, I already know less MPB.
Thanks again

I was in the same type of situation. I have a 16 gb iPod touch and haven't filled it. I decided to go with the 32gb iPad and I'm very happy that I made that decision. At this point I have about 7gb left. I have about 1400 songs, 1000 photos, 5 movies and 10 tv shows. Not to mention 27 apps as well. My advice would be to go with at least a 32. These things seem to fill up faster than the iPhone or iPod touch!

Went with a 64GB iPad, as my 32GB iPt is nearly full (doesn't help that it's loaded with enough console programs/utilities to do anything I need it to do)

I have 14 GB's of music on my iPad, nearly all the music I have that I want to put on, 90+ albums. In contrast, movies eat up space much faster; Sherlock Holmes (1.6GB), Live Free or Die Hard (1.8GB), Star Trek (1.1GB), and The Return of the King (3.2GB) eat up 9.6GB's of space, although for the the size the quality is great (I love Handbrake).
About half of the 64GB's has been used so far.

Still trying to figure out exactly how I'll use the iPad when I go outside the house, planning on making my own case out of Multicam cordura.

Best,
David

good info

Thanks on the info. I am not sure how many songs I will put on it, but I know pictures and digital copies that come with Blu-Rays will take up a good amount of room, granted not every movie I have a digital version of will go on my iPad, for example holiday movies. Though I create plenty of my own videos, and I know they will take up lots of room. Plenty of pictures will be on there as well, of course only the good ones. I would think the Apps are a bit larger in size. At the moment I am not getting Numbers, etc, except I am sure I will eventually need them. My Sony eReader is great not that books take up much room anyway.

64g with about 15 free. That's with 12 movies and a season of the Flintstones. That Is most of my space.

Im at 3.5GB free from 16 (14.02). I have 5 Blu ray movies I converted to m2ts previously to stream to my PS3, I used handbrake to convert them to a iPad compatible medium. About 80 or so chapters and 2 volumes of Manga imported to ComicZeal, 1 iBook and a few samples, 1 Kindle book and some samples, a ton of pdfs to goodreader, 995 songs (I used the 128 thing to reduce size), 268 photos (Simply amazing how welll it reduces size on photos), and 51 Applications.

Honestly there is a limit as to what I will actually use versus what will just sit there and eat space. I don't need my full iTunes library, nor do I need my full photo library. After this fun of putting everything on the device I will eventually dwindle it down to what I will acutally consume.

From other users here who posted their results.

I like this chart because it shows you where the various GBs are going:

I actually see the iPad as more of a video/app device than music.

After all I have my iPhone with ALL my music on it.

So I have put a few hundred songs on it just the bare essentials I love and am using the rest of my 14GB for videos and apps.

Remmeber that as the screen is "HD" the videos are TWICE the size of normal SD videos be it TV shows/Movies/Music Videos.

Having said that I feel that 14GB is more than enough for 5 or so TV shows and a couple of movies and all the apps.

What I need more is a bag to carry it in!

I'm at 14 gig free on a 16 gig model. No music (it's on my iPhone), no movies (streaming netflix), and only apps and a few files from goodreader.

I'm actually thinking to do the same thing and remove the music. I have all my music on my iPhone and that is always with me.

16GB.
I think I'll just be streaming video with Air Video, since that's what uses up most of the space. I'll obviously need season 1 of Archer to stay on there in HD, so that's 5GB gone right there. I'll maybe have a few playlists and podcasts for music, and my apps, so that should leave maybe 5GB to play with swapping movies out and downloading themes and utilities from Cydia once it's up and running.
