I'll probably just need 5 gigs for applications, what's the bare minimum requirement of Vista partition size?

It won't crash, it will just use 2 GB. You can verify this by:

Control Panel | System

It will report only 2 GB RAM...

Thanks, that's sad! Will future Boot Camp update allows it to use 4GB of RAM?

P.S. Do you think 15GB is optimal for Vista partition size, and once I install it are there ways to reduce the OS files size etc.?

id say min 20gb.... need room for OS install + programs + VM + just incase something else comes up..

Actually, vista will recognize something like 3 to 3.5 GB - just not the total 4. On windows machines at least (I haven't tried this on boot camp) vista 32 bit is good for at least 3 GB.
