I know all the arguments against (and all the arguments for).

Nonetheless my aging back needs a MacBook Air. My four and a half pound MacBook, even with wonderful battery life is too much to bear. So is the thought of using Windows 98. Otherwise I'd buy a Netbook.

My last two questions are these:

How many hours of word processing can I expect from the latest version of the MBA? And is there a difference between the battery life with the spinning and solid state drives? Thanks.

1.5-2 Hours on 1/2 Brightness + High Performance + Gaming CoD: WaW in Windows 7

3 Hours on 3/4 Brightness + High Performance in Windows 7

4.5 Hours on 3/4 Brightness w/ reading PDF files/taking notes and doing homework (damn summer classes)

5.5 Hours w/ Front Row running for 20%, making ringtones another 20%, idle 20%, chatting 40% (estimate). 1/4 brightness for front row, 1/2 brightness for rest.
