Hello,

I was wondering how many iMacs average IT employee can buy in your country for average yearly salary? People compains about prices but they forget about comparing it to the salary - lets see who has the cheapest ones.

Average IT employee = 25-30 years, Master's Degree

Lets assume we are comparing standard 27'' i5 (1999$) - this is price from US Apple Store - as the baseline.

Poland:
Average Net Salary ~ 14000$
iMac ~ 2900$
Can buy 4.8 iMacs

The average IT employee does not have a Masters degree. Even if you take out all the barely qualified staff in front-line desktop support and the like the average employee will have a Bachelors degree.

I think I understand what the OP is trying to do (e.g. people in the UK are constantly complaining about higher prices on Apple gear but don't take into account cost of living and salary differences), but I'm not sure how you'd define an average IT salary: There are so many different jobs with huge salary differences that a median would be pointless.

Having said that, here are some figures for the UK using a highish end IT position:

Average Solutions Architect Salary: £55,000 (take home: £38,761)
Cost of i5 27" iMac: £1649

Number of iMacs: 23.5
